This 2-part class will be taught in 2 days, but you have the option of coming to only 1 day. Part one is dyeing the yarn in whichever gradient set you choose. Part two is learning to knit the lace scarf, Summer Bell Flower Scarf.
If you’re already comfortable with lace knitting and don’t want to join the lace class, only sign up for part 1. The Bell Flower Scarf pattern is a beginner lace project. The pattern will be included in the dye class as well as in the lace class.
If you are only interested in just the lace/scarf lesson, only sign up for part 2. For that you will need to bring your own 250g-300g of worsted weight yarn, in a gradient set or not. It can be knit with 1 color or multiple colors!
If lace is new or fairly new to you, AND you want to dye the yarn, sign up for both.
Description of Part 1:
This class will take 2-3 hours, depending on which gradient set you choose. At the end of that time you will take home your yarn for a final rinse, then let let it dry overnight. If you sign up for part 2, bring the yarn back for the lace knitting class. The yarn used is worsted weight. Here is a list of gradient sets you can dye.
1. Shades of one color: 5 shades of blues (indigo), greens (indigo and osage), yellows (osage), oranges (osage and madder root and cochineal), reds (cochineal and lac), pinks (cochineal), or browns (black walnut)
2. Shades with 5 multiple colors: “Purple Pizzazz”, shades of pink and purple (logwood and cochineal), “Western Horizon”, shades of blue and brown (indigo and black walnut), “Sunset”, shades of oranges, yellows and reds (madder root, osage, and cochineal), “Green Willow”, shades of green and brown (black walnut, osage, and indigo), “Winter Berries”, shades of blue, purple and pink, “Cool Pansies”, shades of green, blue, and purple (indigo, osage, and logwood), “Crazy Crayons”, blue, green, purple, yellow, orange and red (indigo, osage, logwood, madder root, and cochineal), Unique Color Set, if you have your own idea for a color set, we can discuss it as an option for you!
Note: The names come from previous gradient sets I have made and used to sell. Your set could have your own name! The set we make together that day will be unique.
Materials provided: 5 or 6 50g hanks of worsted weight yarn, dye materials
Price: $150 for a group of 2 or more. Class size will be limited to 4.
