This yarn has been dyed 3-5 times creating layers of colors. The yarn is then conditioned to make sure the fibers are still smooth and soft. The natural dyes I used were madder root, turmeric, and cochineal. After my initial efforts at this colorway, I added black walnut brown to the dye process. Those added a lovely depth in color, I thought. Let me know which you prefer when you order. Both versions are still available.
The Playful Pairs Plus is a bigger (4 ounce/113 grams) hank and uses this more sophisticated dye technique. The new one in the gallery is also made with black walnuts, so it’s a little darker. Each one comes out differently! Please specify by an email note to me if you have a preference.
